The little port of Le Bono lies on the banks of the river which bears its name. The village stands on the steep slope rising up from the port. In the early 20th century no fewer than 400 Le Bono fishermen worked their nets from small red-sailed luggers known as forbans. The suspension bridge is a listed monument and was totally rebuilt in the early 20th century according to plans drawn by celebrated French engineer Gustave Eiffel. Today it offers a remarkable view of the fishermen's cottages and the yachts.
