Fils de la côte : an exhibition dedicated to seafarers' children
Jacques de Thézac was a major player in improving the living conditions of professional sailors through the creation of the Abris du Marin. In 1899, he created the Almanach du marin breton whose aim was to provide instruction and entertainment for sailors, and in 1908, he founded the Œuvre des Abris du Marin.
The exhibition shows, through 37 restored photographs, the daily life of fishermen's children: scenes of games, swimming races, first aid courses, radio lessons, learning to navigate, sculling...
The photographic work of "Jacques de Thézac", a set of negative and positive glass plates of negative and positive glass plates, was found in an attic and acquired in 1989 by the Musée Départemental Breton, then restored.
